Of the 15 photographs in this exhibit, 11 are from Kilgishova’s travels back to her home city of Liepaja, Latvia along with images of Prague, Riga, and Kiev. There are also 4 beautiful color photographs of New Jersey’s Sandy Hook and Point Pleasant. The black and white photographs in this exhibit are film and were taken and developed by Kilgishova in 1999/2000. The color photographs were taken with a digital camera from 2005 to 2011.

Photography started to interest Kilgishova right after middle school when she borrowed her first camera from her mother. In 1998 she met the late Janis Laditis, international award winning photographer, who became her first and only photography teacher. He helped bring her passion of photography to life.

“Teacher Janis, how I used to call him, passed away only a few months ago. I am dedicating this exhibit to my dear teacher, passionate photographer, photography equipment collector and simply a person who had an enormous love for life.”

In 2000 Kilgishova participated in three photography exhibits in Liepaja, Latvia. Last winter her pictures were once again exhibited there, and she won two prizes in two different categories. You can contact her at liene@europe.com
