5th WARD COUNCILMAN
MICHAEL YAKUBOV

Councilman Yakubov received his education at Fairleigh Dickinson and Kean Universities. His educational background consists of a Bachelor's of Arts in Criminal Justice and Sociology and a Master's in Public Administration. Other than his educational accomplishments Councilman Yakubov served as an elected member of the Kean University Board of Trustees, was recognized in Who's Who Among College Students in American, received honors for his leadership with the Criminal Justice and Political Science Associations, where he served as president for two years and was noted as a keynote public speaker in numerous motivational capacities. Councilman Michael Yakubov took office on January 4, 2006 at the age of 23 as 5th Ward Councilman in Roselle Park, New Jersey. Since then he has adapted well to serving the needs of his constituents and the management of borough essentials. Working together with the community and its residents he has found new avenues to addressing important issues that affect the quality of life of Roselle Park. Currently he is the Co-Chair of the Finance Committee, Chairman of the Municipal Services Committee and liaison to the technology and code enforcement departments. Under his leadership Councilman Yakubov has made instant efforts to address previously neglected issues. Maintaining a solid foundation of commitment to cleanliness, good home keeping, safety and business development initiatives were the primary needs to be addressed. Currently the councilman is involved in regenerating the Neighborhood Watch Program, the Roselle Park Goes Green Initiative, reducing speeding and is working towards finding solid solutions to trim down the tax burden upon the community. His continued efforts in the redevelopment process of Roselle Park have been beneficial as his open government approach has allowed residents to better understand the materials discussed. The councilman is also committed to the maintenance of the roadways in the Fifth Ward and beyond. His efforts to have trees trimmed, streets repaved, sewer lines cleaned and garbage removed have been an inspiring need in the ward.
