La Casa Di Martino to Host

Relay For Life of Roselle Park Kick Off Event

Roselle Park, NJ- On February 3, 2009, The American Cancer Society will hold a Kick Off for their annual Relay for Life. La Casa Di Martino has generously agreed to host this event.

This Kick Off event invites members of the Roselle Park community to learn about how their participation in this nationwide movement benefits lifesaving American Cancer Society research, programs, and services. This year’s community event will take place on June 6-7 at Roselle Park High School.

“Our hope” says Maria del Rio, Kick Off Chair and Roselle Park Resident, “is that as many people as possible will come out to learn about this event. And more importantly, that our guests will leave this event energized and empowered to move forward and start a team or generate a sponsorship that will help us raise these much needed funds.”

Last year, 45 teams and over 500 people joined the fight, raising over $130,000! And this year the committee set their sights even higher-$150,000. Sarah Costello, Event Chair remarks, “Last year’s Relay was wonderful, and we want to grow this year. We want more teams of friends, families, churches, temples, organizations, schools, neighborhoods, businesses, and co-workers to join the fight.”

Relay For Life is an overnight event whereby teams of friends, families, co-workers, churches, and organizations join together to CELEBRATE the lives of those who have battled cancer, REMEMBER those lost and FIGHT BACK against a disease that takes too much. A festive atmosphere always develops with music, food, contests, awards and prizes. At the same time, this event sets the stage for honoring the courageous spirit of those battling cancer and remembering those for whom a cure did not come soon enough. It is overnight because cancer never sleeps and neither will we.
