New Event for Dogs, Cats and their Admirers

ROSELLE PARK – Mayor Joseph DeIorio announces a new borough sponsored event for pet owners – “Pet Appreciation Day” in the Borough. On Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 1-4pm lovers of dogs, cats and other domesticated animals will be invited to afternoon of education and enjoyment.

The Mayor remarked, “This is a wonderful event for the family, for young and old alike.” The Mayor and his dog, “Martino”, a mixed breed German Shepard, will be the master of ceremonies for the event.

The event will take place at the Casano Community Center, 314 Chestnut Street.

Karen Intile, Director of the Casano Community Center said, “Over the last year we have expanded our community programs in response to requests from our residents. We found great interest from pet lovers and are excited to host this event.”

The day’s events are as follows:

  • 1pm – Experts available to speak on general pet care and pet behavior
  • 2pm – Canine Costume Parade
    • Prizes for Funniest, Cutest, Scariest and Most Talented
  • 3pm – Non Denominational “Blessing” of the Animals

During the afternoon there will be raffles, prizes, give-a-ways and refreshments and snacks for all. Owners are advised to place all pets on a leash or in a secure pet carrier. Pets must be licensed as required by law. No loose pets allowed.
