Anthony Signorello Youth Center

Over the last few weeks, kids at the ASYC have been very busy! Between Election Day and the Thanksgiving holiday, various FUN FRIDAY events and other activities have taken place!
Each day, besides our regular tutoring sessions, we also offer lessons or interactive activities in Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, and/or STEM. Lessons are broken up by grade level and can be made specific upon request!
*If you're a K-5 student and haven't joined the ASYC yet, you may have missed out on things like rounding whole numbers and estimation, science experiments like creating a lava lamp, TIME for KIDS Election Edition, our weekly ELA Book Club Podcast, and cooking up recipes with Food Literacy!
*Students in grades 6-8 have also been busy learning about ratios, rates & percentages, the making of the 50 states, discovering how windmills work, and deciding if graphic novels should be considered books!
As always, FUN FRIDAY is available (but not mandatory, as we have other lessons posting that day). Recently, students participating in our FUN FRIDAY activities learned how to draw DIsney characters, created origami fortune tellers, and watched movies like Chicken Little and Ralph Breaks the Internet! There's a new theme every week!
There's still time to get involved and register! We are currently still virtual and have a TON to offer at the ASYC! Don't miss out!

Letter from John Ranieri, Director...
Dear Parents and Guardians of Roselle Park,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the director of the Roselle Park Anthony Signorello Youth Center’s after care program.  My name is John Ranieri and I reside in Roselle Park with my wife Angelina.  I am a proud father of four children.  I have been employed by the Roselle Park School District as a Physical Educator and Driver Education Instructor for the past 23 years.  I hold a BA in Health/Physical Education K-12, MA in Curriculum / Instruction and MA in Educational Leadership.
Aside of my primary duty as an educator in our district, I am privileged to serve as the Roselle Park Summer Camp Director.  In addition, I also serve our community as the Roselle Park Dad’s Club Vice President.
As the director of the ASYC after school program, I look forward to building a staff that will assist in implementing the following programs that will include homework assistance and personalized tutoring.  In addition, we plan to provide remote arts and crafts, science fun, and recreational activities. I also hope to foster and develop relationships between the younger students within the district and students from the high school by including volunteer members of the National Honors Society.
I look forward to an educational, fun and safe after care year.
John Ranieri - ASYC Director

About the ASYC...

Our situation at the ASYC is not unlike that of other student-centered programs regarding reopening in the midst of the pandemic. Due to these unprecedented circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to provide a completely virtual experience for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

During this time, ASYC staff will be available for remote tutoring and homework help for all grades K-8 from 3pm-6pm daily. Certified teachers, National Honors Society students, and others will be providing these services to any K-8 Roselle Park resident wishing to engage in this opportunity via a virtual platform. Live virtual meetings will be open to join and will be based on grade level and availability.

Once your registration is complete, please check your email for the virtual meetings schedule, Google Classroom information, and more! As our situation is fluid, we will revisit how we conduct our services and are working out plans for a hybrid environment for 2021.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at jranieri@rosellepark.net

Virtual Experience Expectation
In order to provide academic support services during our virtual program, counselors at the ASYC will be offering daily tutoring and homework help sessions for all registered Borough of Roselle Park residents. Our live, online-tutoring sessions will utilize audio and visual communication through Zoom and Google Classroom. Students will be able to participate anywhere they have internet access and once they are registered for the program, they can join one of our daily grade-appropriate sessions. Supplemental materials and additional resources will also be shared regularly in Google Classroom.
