Marriage License Information

REQUIREMENTS FOR MARRIAGE / CIVIL UNION LICENSE

Males/females who reside in the Borough of Roselle Park; if both are from out of state, the town where the ceremony will take place. You may apply in the Roselle Park Clerk’s Office/Vital Statistics, Monday through Friday by appointment only.

Appointments are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please call 908-245-8466.

There is a 72 hour mandatory waiting period from the time of the application until you can use your marriage license. Weekends are counted in this time.
After the license is picked up, it may be used in the state of New Jersey for (30) thirty days, after which time the license expires.

Requirements

At the time of application the following must be present:

Bride, groom and one witness 18 years of age or older and who knows the couple.

The couple must bring:

  • Birth certificates (translated if in a foreign language) divorce, annulment, Civil Union or death certificate (if married previously).
  • The application fee of $28.00
  • Proof of residency such as a driver’s license, lease, tax return, etc.
  • Social Security Card

You must supply the following information:

  • Both parents birth places
  • Both mothers maiden names/fathers names
  • Date of Marriage
  • Place of Marriage
  • Name, address and telephone number of the officiant.

*Blood Tests are no longer required in New Jersey

If the ceremony takes place in Roselle Park certified copies can be obtained from this office for a fee of $10 per copy.
If the ceremony takes place in another municipality than the certificate must be obtained in that municipality for the appropriate fee.
You are responsible for your own wedding arrangements.
If you wish to be married by the Roselle Park Municipal Court you must contact them directly at 908-241-4631 to arrange a wedding date.
